How to decorate using your vacation as your inspiration

Whether you're spending the summer at your beach house or having a stay-cation, let the beach inspire your home decor this summer.

A color scheme of blue and white would be perfect for a beach house in the Hamptons. White walls look clean and sophisticated, and are the perfect base for lovely turquoise accents.

Staying home this summer? Let marine life inspire your bedroom with shades of blue and orange, and you'll feel like the ocean is right near by. Don't forget to add a beautiful work of art to tie it all together.

Butterfly Goddess, 20X20

Light blue and periwinkle prints feel summery and fresh. Add another pop of color with artwork that has bright purple hues.

For a more elegant color scheme, try shades of blue-green with white and cream accents. This combination looks excellent with a grey and dark blue painting.

Royal blue is vibrant and beautiful for summer. Go for an all-American look by adding a red painting, like this butterfly watercolor .

If you're inspired by the depths of the ocean, go for a deep, navy blue. Lime green and brown furniture complete this nautical space.
