HUGE watercolors of Trees and peonies

The painting of peonies I did this week is absolutely HUGE.
I created it on 26x40" watercolor paper. This paper is called
"elephant" paper because of it's size.
I used a joyous bright yellow background...
as bright as the skies in a Van Gogh painting.
Here is a detail from that painting. You can click
on the link below the detail to see the full listing details

Bright happy yellow! Joyous Pink! Love life!

This painting was also created on large elephant paper.
I loved getting into the forest and creating the magical calmness of nature.

Two new full size watercolors...wild and free

I love creating the abstract shapes and drawing with pencil on the paper.
The paint is applied in splashes of color for a loose "accidentally on purpose" effect
where each drip and drop adds to the complexity of color and form.

In the koi painting I enjoyed working with the interaction of the viridian green with the cobalt violet. The colbalt violet is a poisonous color, so I have to wash my hands carefully after splashing it around. The two vibrant colors merge into a misty, foamy gray

An owl peeks through the snow laden trees. If it were not for the piercing yellow eyes you might miss him. The watercolor is handled in a loose and abstract manner. Only the highest grade archival professional materials have been used and piece comes signed by the artist in black ink.

This owl reminds me of Harry Potter's owl, Hedwig.

I am back from a much needed vacation. to kick off the new year
I made this painting which was inspired by feelings of the Caribbean...
the way I felt swimming in the ocean, the crystal clear turquoise waters
and the bright buildings. I am looking forward to sharing the bright and
unique colors of San Juan in my artwork.
